Review: A Quiet Place II

A Quiet Place was such a welcome surprise when I first saw it back in 2018. John Krasinski who directed the film, was in attendance at that screening and he spoke passionately about how much the film meant to him and all the reasons why he wanted to make it. I found it to be a very impressive film from a directorial standpoint, and when all was said and done it was absolutely one of the best horror films that year along with one of the most tense. Having said that, I was not hankering for a sequel as I felt the story worked perfectly as a one off and wasn’t sure if the story left was worth telling. Well I was very, very wrong as A Quiet Place II is a worthy follow up that may be even better in some ways than the original.

Review: Godzilla vs Kong (spoiler free)

One Year and 27 days. That is how long it had been since I stepped foot inside of a movie theater. I know theaters have been open for a while now, but I, like so many other film lovers did not feel the risk was worth it, and to be quite honest, had the proverbial stars not aligned to provide me the perfect path to a safe screening of a film I had so desperately wanted to see on the biggest screen possible, I still would be waiting for my return to the theater. I feel extremely fortunate to have been invited to a press screening of Godzilla vs Kong. The icing on the cake was it was an IMAX screening of this particular film, which obviously is made to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

Review: HAUNT

The opening night event of this years Popcorn Frights Film Festival saw them host the world premiere of Haunt, the new film from Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the writers of the mega hit A Quiet Place. The packed house was treated to what will surely be one of the must see films on every horror fan’s watch list this October.

Review: Halloween

The horror gods are smiling upon us because it is October and yes we actually have a Halloween film in theaters and even more importantly we have a GOOD Halloween movie in theaters. Not since 1989 has a Michael Myers film been released IN October, I would say 1995’s the Curse of Michael Myers deserves some credit as it was released at the very end of September in ’95, but even still, that is a LONG time. So yes, this is a big deal, Michael Myers is back, in October, in a good Halloween film. You know what, let’s not even call it good, because this is easily a GREAT Halloween film. I won’t really get into the plot of the film because if you are reading this you have probably already seen the film and or the trailers. I will talk about why this movie worked for me though.

Child’s Play one sheet by TrueHorror.net

Everyone knows how much of a Chucky fan I am and the original Child’s Play is right up there with Halloween in a tie for the title of my favorite horror film ever. So any excuse I can get to work on some new Child’s Play stuff, I will take it. I have done a wide variety of Child’s Play themed shoots and posters already so if I was going to do another I had to be sure it was something different and this new poster may be my favorite yet.
