While the second Strangers film “Prey At Night” seemed to leave audiences divided. There is no doubt the original has certainly left it’s mark on horror fans. A big part of that is thanks to the creepy masks worn by the titular villains. While there is only so much you can do with the concept in photo form, it literally is just a lot of standing around and letting the creepy lighting and mask do the work. That didn’t stop us from shooting a little mini-set of photos based on one of the films killers. 

One thing I always really enjoy doing is going back through old shoots with fresh eyes and seeing what new twists I can come up with. So sitting around the other night trying to stay in a creative mind frame and keep being productive. I went through the photos from our Riverdale themed shoot and came across one of my friend Wilnette that stood out to me. 

I am pleased to share the first of two posters I created for the upcoming Popcorn Frights Film Festival that will be held this upcoming August 11-17 in Miami at O Cinema. Since my first viewing of it, I have made it very clear that the “Father’s Day” segment from the recent horror anthology film Holidays was one of my absolute favorite things I saw last year.  Expertly crafted by writer/director Anthony Scott Burns (who also scored the film himself)  Father’s Day stars TrueHorror.net favorite Jocelin Donahue as a woman who receives a mysterious package that leads her to go on a haunting trip down memory lane. As many of you know I love creating poster designs for fillms that I am a big fan of, but I’ve recently been in a bad rut creatively due to a bunch of personal stuff I have been going through that has sapped my motivation. In an effort to keep my mind off things though I decided to try and tackle something I knew I would be inspired by and began to play around with some concepts for Father’s Day posters designs. 

Since I first saw it, The Blackcoat’s Daughter has become one of my favorite horror films, and I have been singing it’s praises to anyone who will listen, even going so far as naming it my favorite horror film of 2016. With it’s official release finally approaching, A24 films recently unveiled a new trailer which we posted here . They also included a poster I personally felt was serviceable but nor really as cool as the film deserves. The Blackcoat’s Daughter is a great horror film so I wanted to create something for fun that I felt was not only more interesting but represented it just a bit better. Creating posters for films is one of my favorite things to do, so I wanted to take a crack at it.
